Biography/History: The collection contains four publications by Emmanuel College: the Emmanuel College News, the Emmanuel Quarterly, the Emmanuel Alumnae Newsletter, and the Emmanuel College Magazine. The Emmanuel College News began publication in November of 1973 by the Public Relations Office, with M. Ellen Downey, Director of Public Relations, as editor. Publication of the Emmanuel Quarterly commenced in 1983 by the Department of Public Relations. The Emmanuel Alumnae Newsletter began publication in May of 1989, initially issued by the Office of Public Relations, and later, beginning in 1990, through the Office of Institutional Advancement. This publication was released as a bimonthly periodical with Margaret Larkin serving as editor. The Emmanuel College Magazine went into publication in the spring of 1994 jointly through the Office of Development and Alumnae Relations and the Office of Public Relations, and was issued three times per year. The Emmanuel College Magazine was designed as a replacement for the Emmanuel Alumnae Newsletter through use of a more expansive format.

Scope and Content: Beginning Publication in 1973, the Emmanuel College News covered topics including college administration, campus events, and provided information on alumni affairs. The Emmanuel Quarterly began publication in 1983, and similarly provided updates on the college and campus activities, featured various profiles of alumni, and additionally includes essay contributions authored by Emmanuel College alumni. The Emmanuel Alumnae Newsletter began publication in 1989, and featured class notes, reports on reunions such as "Women in Science," the "Back on Campus" column that highlighted alumni engaged in college affairs, in addition to the column "Cross Country" that detailed the happenings of alumni organizations and activities outside the Boston area. The Emmanuel College Magazine began publication in 1994, intended as a replacement for the Emmanuel Alumnae Newsletter by continuing to devote attention to campus events, alumni news, as well as share changes occurring within the college and the student body through a broader medium. Of interest on a national level is coverage of alumna Nancy Kerrigan's olympic career, from 1992 to 1994, featured in both the Emmanuel Alumnae Newsletter and the Emmanuel College Magazine. Additionally, annual giving reports are periodically interspersed throughout the collection.

Collection Arrangement: The collection is arranged into four series according to the publication, with the materials arranged in chronological order within each series. The collection contains: 1.) Emmanuel College News, 2.) Emmanuel Quarterly, 3.) Emmanuel Alumnae Newsletter, and 4.) Emmanuel College Magazine.
