Tips for Using Zotero

  • Always check your citations.
  • With integrating into Word or Google Docs, make sure to click on Refresh to insure that the citations and reference list is up to date.
    ​​​​​​​Note: Zotero does not work on Microsoft Online (only the desktop applications.)
  • Before sharing your document, create a copy and Unlink Citations on the copy sending to others to avoid any compatibility issues.
    ** It is important to keep a copy that is linked to Zotero in case you need to make any edits.**

  • Many databases will provide citations with the sources. 
    • Ebsco databases such as Academic Search Premier: Use the Cite option from the Tools option on the detailed record.
    • Google Scholar: Use the Cite option under the source information.
